TikTok Batch Creation for Beginners

TikTok Batch Creation for Beginners

When following TikTok's best practices, it’s easy to get overwhelmed. Most social media gurus or specialists will recommend a high volume of content in order to grow your audience. And this advice is, in most cases, good… so long as what you’re creating is valuable—but more on that in another post.

A good number to aim for with TikTok is a minimum of one to three videos per day. That’s between 7 and 21 videos per week, or 28 and 84 videos per month. The key to keeping up with such a demanding content schedule is to batch create your content.

In this article, I’ll break down the basics of TikTok batch creation so you can get one step closer to building your audience. Keep reading to learn more.

How to Batch Create TikToks

First, what is TikTok batch creation?

Batch creation is the practice of filming and/or editing multiple videos on your editorial calendar in one session.

If you’re a fitness influencer, for example, this could mean heading to the gym and filming all your exercise tips for the week in one session. For a clothing company, this could be filming styling videos of each piece in a new collection.

By batch-creating new content, you minimize the amount of prep work you need to complete to film each video. Cleaning your filming space and getting yourself camera-ready is already taken care of. All you have to do is hit record.

If you want to try batch creation for TikTok, start by following these basic steps. And feel free to adapt them as needed.

1. Develop a Content Strategy

First, you’ll want to refer to your content strategy or editorial calendar. Take a look at the videos you have planned, or take a minute to sit down and plan some.

2. Make a Filming Plan

Once you have your content strategy in front of you, ask yourself: which of these upcoming videos can be filmed at the same time? Then, create a filming schedule.

This doesn’t have to be in-depth, but you should consider what each video will require before you dive into filming it. This way you avoid unnecessary delays between filming and maximize the amount of time it takes you to complete your list.

3. Pick a Good Location

Now that you know which videos you want to film, it’s time to pick a location. Make sure you’ll be able to access it for a long period of time, and that it’s presentable and distraction-free during your filming time.

4. Start Early

TikTok batch creation takes time. And since one of TikTok’s best practices is to film in good lighting, it’s a good idea to start filming early in the day. If you can’t film early in the day or in natural daylight, a ring light or your phone’s flash are good alternatives.

5. Film First

Batch creation means doing each step of the content creation process in batches. While it may be tempting to film and edit each video one at a time, it’s a good idea to get all your filming out of the way before you dive into the editing process.

This is a big reason why it’s so important to have a solid plan before you get started.

6. Stay Organized

While filming, be sure to keep your files organized in order to save you time later on during the editing stage. I like to keep folders on my phone for each video idea. When I finish filming the shots for one video, I move all the clips to that folder, then start the next video.

7. Batch Edit

Once you finish filming all your videos, you can start editing. This doesn’t need to be on the same day, since TikTok batch creation can be pretty exhausting, but batch editing will make it easier to get the posts scheduled so you can spend more time focussing on what matters.

Beyond TikTok Batch Creation: More Tips

Even with batch creation, keeping up with TikTok production can be a challenge. Here are some more tips.

Post Casual Content

Not everything you post on TikTok needs to be a masterpiece. In fact, TikTok users often prefer casual, intimate, and low-budget videos in the right circumstances. Look to other creators in your niche for inspiration—take note of the different types of videos they post.

Hop on Trends

Videos featuring trending sounds are spontaneous, easy to create, and can work exceptionally well for reaching new audiences. This doesn’t mean you need to hop on every new trend, but don’t hesitate to get creative and have fun with it.

TikTok users love when creators get silly—if you’re an accounting firm trying to reach the new generation of taxpayers, why not get all the office workers together for a dance challenge? Or a pass-the-phone challenge?

Everyone loves a bit of harmless cringe once in a while.

Reply to Comments

One of the best ways to include some spontaneity in your content plan is by replying to questions in your comments with more videos.

You can do this by clicking on the comment and selecting the camera icon. From there, you’ll be taken to the camera where you can record, edit, and post.
